Perjalanan menuju Pulau Weh sungguh terasa lama dengan sebuah kapal nelayan kecil. Walau wajah wajah nelayan yang membawa kami tampak bergembira ketika mata pancing yang mereka lemparkan menyangkut seeekor ikan trigger, tapi saya tahu bahwa kenangan akan bencana tsunami beberapa waktu silam tetap susah untuk dilupakan.
Apa yang saya bayangkan bahwa tsunami memporak porandakan alam bawah laut ternyata tidak terbukti.
Tak beberapa lama setelah bencana Tsunami, kami memotret alam bawah laut Pulau Weh untuk membuktikan bahwa terumbu karang disana tidak rusak. Kebesaran alam ciptaan Tuhan masih tergambar dengan indahnya. Sea fans raksasa dengan anggunnya mencuatkan semburat warna yang mengagumkan .
Ini sungguh berbeda ketika berjalan dari Airport menuju pelabuhan. Sejauh mata memandang, hanya timbunan sampah, puing puing rumah dan kendaraan. Horison tanpa batas, demikian saya menyebutnya. Karena kami bisa memandang laut dari pemukiman kota, yang semula tertutup oleh bangunan,rumah dan pohon pohon. Semuanya kini tercabut paksa dari muka bumi.
Terumbu karang adalah salah satu pilar ekosistem kehidupan bawah laut yang paling penting. Ia merupakan pemasok plankton untuk makanan spesies ikan dan sekaligus rumah bagi mereka. Kehancuran terumbu karang merupakan ancaman bagi kelangsungan hidup ikan ikan.
Taman laut pulau weh seakan tak pernah tersentuh oleh angkara murka tsunami. Tak pernah terbayangkan hanya lima belas meter diatas semua ini, pernah terjadi bencana gelombang raksasa yang menghancurkan apa saja yang dilewati. Mungkin Tuhan tak sampai hati untuk menghancurkan keindahan alam bawah laut ini.
