Menjangan Island

Menjelajahi Pulau Menjangan di Utara Bali merupakan sebuah alternatif perjalanan wisata bahari yang hampir terabaikan. Mungkin karena jarak tempuhnya yang relatif jauh dari pusat turis di selatan atau timur Bali.
Kawasan ini merupakan pulau kecil tak lebih dari 180 hektare luasnya, di ujung utara Bali – dekat Gilimanuk – dan berbatasan langsung dengan Pulau Jawa. Pada pag hari saat cuaca cerah kita bisa melihat di kejauhan gunung Bromo dan Arjuna menjulang.

Menjangan dapat ditempuh melalui jalur barat melewati Gilimanuk, atau jalur utara melewati Singaraja. Merupakan bagian dari Taman Nasional Bali Barat, pulau menjangan menawarkan sebuah pengalaman yang berbeda. Pantainya yang relatif bersih serta kekayaan bawah lautnya yang luar biasa.
Kita akan melewati perbukitan dan hutan hutan, yang sungguh eksotik pemandangannya terutama di musim kemarau. Pohon pohon kering berjajar seolah memberikan dimensi simetris dari balik jendela mobil yang membawa kita. Photographer Deniek Sukarya kerap memotret suasana hutan disini.

Bagi pecinta kegiatan menyelam – dengan topografi wall dive – memberikan varian terumbu karang yang indah serta keanekaragaman ikan dan mahluk hayati bawah laut. Banyak ditemukan varian gorgonian fans, overhangs dan sponges. Kadang jika beruntung kita bisa menemui Whale Shark yang melintas dari perjalanan imigrasinya dari utara menuju samudera Hindia.
Jangan salah, disini juga ditemukan Pigmy Sea Horse dan Mandarin Fish yang menjadi komoditi incaran fotografer bawah laut dimana mana.

Sebelum mencapai Menjangan, kita bisa mampir disekitar pantai pemutaran – tetap di utara bali – seperti Puri Jati khusus untuk memotret obyek Macro. Ini merupakan muck dive. Beberapa obyek seperti seahorse, nudibranch, scorpion fish, devil fish dan mimic octopus.
Sambil istrirahat makan siang disini, tampak Petani bebek sedang menggembalakan ratusan bebek bebeknya tepat dipinggir pantai.
Khusus di sekitar Menjangan ada beberapa lokasi dive site yang menarik , diantaranya Garden Eel, Pos 2 , Batcave serta sebuah reruntuhan kapal di kedalaman 30 – 60 meter. Walaupun sudah tidak utuh lagi, namun beberapa struktur dan jangkar masih bisa terlihat sejak kedalaman 8 meter.
Menjangan dapat diselami sepanjang tahun, walau waktu yang bagus sekitar bulan April sampai November . Jika beruntung visibility bisa mencapai 50 meter pada bulan baik.

Dinamakan menjangan, atau rusa dalam bahasa jawa, karena memang masih ditemukan rusa rusa di pulau ini. Kadang kita masih bisa melihat mereka di pinggir laut sebelum lari masuk ke dalam hutan begitu kita mendekati.
Untuk mencapai pulau menjangan atau menyelam di kawasan ini, dapat ditempuh dengan perhu jukung dari pelabuhan Lalang, teluk terima atau pelabuhan kecil milik hotel hotel yang tersebar di kawasan ini. Salah satunya Mimpi Resort, yang terletak di dalam kawasan Taman Nasional.

Menjangan memang mempesona. Tak bosan bosannya saya kesini. Senja kali ini terasa beda. Anak anak bermain bola di atas pantai yang surut. Sebuah mata jernih terus menatap saya dari pinggir pantai. Berharap senja yang tak akan surut ke bumi.
