Selamat datang di dunia laut. Sebuah kumpulan cerita dan photo photo  tentang kekayaan alam hayati lautan Indonesia. Sebuah dunia yang justru dilupakan dan terpinggirkan oleh masyarakatnya sendiri. Ini berupa catatan perjalanan bahari di seluruh pelosok negeri ini. Sebagai negara yang memiliki garis pantai terpanjang di dunia, sudah selayaknya lautan menjadi sumber daya alam yang patut dijaga, dipelihara dan dikembangkan menjadi lumbung penghidupan bangsa.

Menyedihkan justru kita tak pernah peduli dan hanya mengganggapnya sebagai tempat pembuangan sampah. Kita tak pernah benar benar mengeksploatasi kekayaan alam secara benar dan bertanggungjawab. Polusi dan pemboman ikan mempercepat penghancuran terumbu karang, padahal ikan ikan membutuhkan terumbu karang sebagai rumahnya.

Dalam perjalanan ini saya melihat orang orang asing yang justru lebih mengenal isi laut kita.  Pelaut asing yang menguras ikan ikan kita sampai pelosok laut Arafura. Bahkan ironisnya ketika menyelam saya justru dipandu oleh penyelam asing. Mereka lebih mengetahui titik titik penyelaman di negeri ini daripada anak bangsa sendiri. Tidak salah jika ‘ National Geographics ‘ kedepan hanya berkonsentrasi – eksplorasi lautnya – di Afrika, Papua New Guinea dan Indonesia.  Negeri ini sebagai bagian dari pusat segitiga koral dunia, mulai Sulawesi Utara, Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara Timur sampai Papua benar benar menyimpan rahasia dan kekayaan hayati yang luar biasa.

Sudah saatnya kita menoleh ke laut, sebagai alternatif penghidupan bangsa ini. Lautan dan isinya bukanlah sekadar warisan dari nenek moyang kita. Ia harus dijaga karena menjadi pinjaman dari anak cucu kita. Sejarah membuktikan Indonesia adalah bangsa bahari, dan bangsa yang besar adalah yang mampu menguasai lautan. Bukan merusaknya.  Karena laut adalah bumi tempat kita berpijak juga. One Earth One Ocean.
